Not the famous Naval officer born in Newcastle but the famously great tasting Northumbeland cheese from the Doddington dairy near Wooler.
Admiral Collingwood is a semi-hard, raw milk, made with the milk from their own herd of Normandy and Friesian cows.
The cheese is approx 1/2kg square and washed regularly in Newcastle brown ale. Once ripened it is smooth and succulent, melting on the tongue with a tangy after taste from the ale.
An interesting washed rind alternative for those who don't like sticky and smelly cheese.
