Criffel is a raw milk cheese made with organic cows' milk at the loch Arthur creamery in Beeswing near Dumfries.
the creamery is part of a working community which includes men and women with learning disabilities.
The cheese is superbly made! very continental in style. the rind is washed to a sticky and pungent state, whilst the pate remains semi-soft, sweet and delicate. the marriage of a generous amount of pate and thin layer of rind is perfect.
Strong competitor to Epoisses or Taleggio on the cheese board.
